The Pharmaceutical Class was founded in 1885 on the initiative of a group of pharmacists from Braga concerned with the price differences verified at the time.

 

Its primary purpose was the establishment of a formalized writing agreement to fulfill the regulation of prices of medicinal products. This agreement provided therefore penalties for disrespectful pharmacists. António Domingues Alvim was its president, and later president of the Pharmacists Union from the District of Braga in 1902.
